McLaughlin Accused of Electioneering

'DIRTY TRICK': Keith Pekau accuses Dan McLaughlin and staff of delivering lunches with their campaign logo to election judges.

ORLAND PARK, IL - Orland Park mayoral hopeful Keith Pekau has accused his opponent, Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin, of electioneering.

"Mayor McLaughlin and his staff delivered lunches to election judges throughout Orland Park with his campaign logo and name on the sandwiches and boxes," Pekau said in a statement to Orland Park Patch Tuesday afternoon. "This is electioneering and a clear violation of the law."

The 'Keith4Mayor' Facebook campaign page shared a photo of one of the sandwiches the McLaughlin staff allegedly delivered to a polling place. It was of a sub sandwich on a table and on it had a blue and red sticker with the words "Dan McLaughlin" and "Veggie Sub."

A reader sent Orland Park Patch the same photo.

The Pekau Facebook page shared a photo of the sandwich with the political sticker along with the line: "Another dirty trick from a Chicago politician. A violation of election law delivered by Dan McLaughlin."

A representative for McLaughlin did not immediately return a request for comment.
