Mona Lisa Boutique Holds Retirement Sale

After 29 wonderful years in the south suburbs, Mona Lisa Boutique is closing in Orland Park Crossing. All merchandise 20-75 percent off.

ORLAND PARK, IL — The Parisian-inspired Mona Lisa Boutique that brought good taste to the south suburbs is closing after 29 years. Sisters Wendy Lundberg and Jill Evans announced their retirement Tuesday on YouTube.

“It’s the end of an era …” the sisters said. “All good things must come to an end.”

Mona Lisa opened 1991 in Palos Heights. The first shop featured women’s clothing, accessories and jewelry. The boutique quickly expanded to include home decor, furniture, gifts, Christmas decorations and a complete baby boutique. Wendy and Jill continued to pursue their passion of presenting beautiful pieces with affordable price tags after moving in 2018 to their current location at Orland Park Crossing, 14215 S. LaGrange Road, Orland Park.

Although the sisters are closing their brick-and-mortar store, Jill and Wendy are working on some new projects, including their online company Mona Lisa & Company.

“We’re 29 years older, it’s time to move on,” Lundberg said. “It’s all good and happy.”

Fans and their friends can send Mona Lisa off with a smile at a final sale that starts Wednesday, Feb. 19. All store merchandise will be marked down 20 to 75 percent off. Spring orders will still be accepted and marked down 20 percent. The store is no longer accepting credit cards and checks, so bring cash. The sisters hope to wind down the store by late March, with a possible extension.

"We're going to play it by ear," Lundberg said.
