No Cell Phone Towers on Kirby District 140 Land
AT&T has given up its plight to plant cellphone towers near two schools in Tinley Park.

Opponents of cellphone towers being erected near Tinley Park schools can rest easy. AT&T Wireless recently withdrew its petition to build the two towers.
The company notified the village via letter that it would no longer seek to build the 129-foot towers at Christa McAuliffe School on 174th Street and Helen Keller School on 163rd Street.
Kirby School District 140 had previously agreed to lease land to the company, but residents lashed out at the idea. Parents argued that the towers would be an eyesore and would cause property values to plummet, in addition to the danger they might pose to children. Opponents rallied to collect more than 800 signatures on an online petition against the towers.
