Obituary: Harwood Stellwagen (Sept. 28, 1917-June 5, 2011)

Harwood Stellwagen passed away at age 93 on Sunday, June 5. He was born on the in Orland Park, where he lived most of his life.

Stellwagen raised a large family with his wife Alma on the 160-acre dairy and grain farm, which was sold to the Village of Orland Park in 2002 as part of the Open Lands Programs. His desire was to preserve the rich history found at the farm.

Harwood was an active member of the Marley Community Church, serving numerous roles such as Moderator, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher. He also served on the Consolidated High School District 230 Board of Education for 18 years, between 1959-1977.
