Obituary: Thomas B. Larson

Father of Orland Park resident was a retired Illinois Bell/ATT&T Employee and completed the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Thomas B. Larson, age 83, of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 24, 2019 at home, with his loving family by his side.

Born November 6, 1935 in Joliet, he was the son of Clifford and Geraldine (nee Ryan) Larson.

Tom proudly served as a Private First Class, U. S. Army, Company C, 73rd Engineer Battalion in the Korean War from March, 1954 to January 1956. In September, 2018, he completed the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. with his fellow veterans.

After Tom’s military service, he worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Company/A. T. & T., enjoying a long career and forming many lifelong friendships, and retired as a large business installer.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene C. (nee Fredricks) Larson of Crest Hill; his three children, Gregory (Lynn) Larson of Huntingdon Valley, PA, Denise (John) McKevitt of Orland Park, and Eric (Tracy) Larson of Joliet; six grandchildren, Natalie Larson, John McKevitt, Shannon McKevitt, Caitlyn McKevitt, Brock Larson and Blake Larson; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews from the Berg and Prodehl families. He is also survived by his wife’s children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Larson; and two sisters, Jackie Berg and Joan Prodehl.

Visitation for Thomas Larson will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet. Funeral Services will be Friday, at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Anne Catholic Church, Crest Hill, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded under the auspices of the United States Army and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.
