Old Navy Celebrates Grand Reopening In Orland After Fire

Old Navy rises from the ashes after a devastating fire and will reopen Memorial Day weekend in Orland Park.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- Old Navy in Orland Park will celebrate its grand re-opening after a fire closed the store temporarily in late April. Mayor Keith Pekau is set to cut the ribbon at 10 a.m. Friday, May. 25. Exclusive discounts will be available for the first 200 shoppers.

In late April, the Old Navy store 105 Orland Park Place, experienced a devastating a fire on a busy Sunday afternoon during hours when a clothing display on a moveable wall caught fire filling the building with smoke. The building’s sprinkler system activated. The store suffered significant smoke and fire damage. A 14-year-old has been charged as a juvenile with arson and burglary.

When the fire broke out, the store’s general manager Sara Carool quickly made all Old Navy customers and more than 50 customers had evacuated safety. In recognition of her heroic efforts, she was was given a Life Saver award by the Village of Orland Park. The store was temporarily closed and will reopen for business Memorial Day weekend.
