Orland Chamber to Hold Personal Protection Workshop

Workshop will cover safety tips and techniques for variety of situations

In an effort to promote well-being and self-confidence for all women, the Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce’s Orland Women’s Networking group will host a Personal Protection Workshop from 5-7pm on Thursday, February 4 at the BMO Harris Bank, 15901 Wolf Road, in Orland Park.

The workshop, presented by Jeanette Brook, an instructor from One Light Self Defense, an Illinois-based self-defense team, will cover awareness of surroundings, safety tips for social situations, deceptions and personal vulnerabilities.

The One Light Self Defense team, trained in self-defense disciplines of Modern Arnis, Isshinryu and Tae Kwon Do, has taught more than 100 customized “Release and Run” workshops geared for realtors, corporate employees, athletes and students. Team instructors have also traveled internationally to assist in the safety and well-being of women and children in Nairobi and Thailand.
