Orland Hills Man Accused of Threatening To Blow His Father's Brains Out With Unloaded Gun

Orland Hills cops say gun was unloaded, but found 20 rounds of live ammo nearby.

ORLAND HILLS, IL -- An Orland Hills man was arrested after he threatened to blow his father’s brains out with an unloaded gun, prosecutors said. Brian Carey, 29, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of having an invalid FOID card and misdemeanor charges of aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Carey’s FOID card was reportedly revoked.

According to the charges, Orland Hills police were dispatched on Aug. 6 to Carey’s home in the 8900 block of West 170th Street. When police arrived, the prosecutor said that officers found Carey in the yard in a “highly intoxicated” state. Carey’s father was arguing with his son who was in his bedroom. During the argument, the prosecutor said that Carey threatened to blow his father's brains out and pointed a gun at his father’s knees.

Officers found the weapon on Carey’s bed, which was unloaded, but said 20 rounds of ammo were nearby. The prosecutor said Carey had once possessed a FOID card, but it is currently revoked.
