Orland Hills Village Employee Accused of Theft
Prosecutors said 19-year-old employee used village-issued credit card 53 times for personal use.

An Orland Hills village employee was charged with theft after he used a village-issued credit card for personal use, prosecutors said in court on Tuesday.
Zachary Murphy, 19, appeared in bond court before Cook County Judge Peter Felice.
According to the charges, Murphy was working for the village when he was given a fleet credit card.

Prosecutors said that Murphy used the credit card for non-work expenses 53 times between June 11 and July 13, totaling $2,900. Murphy was captured on surveillance video using the credit card.
The assistant public defender told the judge that Murphy had been working consistently since graduating from Sandburg High School.

“You’re killing your mother,” Judge Felice said. “Is that what you want to do? You can go to the penitentiary for this.”
The judge released Murphy on a $25,000 I-bond and ordered him to go to pretrial services.
“You don’t want to ruin your life but this is putting you on the path there,” the judge said.
