Orland Jr. High Takes First Place in SWIC Declamation
Orland Jr. High Students Take First Place in SWIC Declamation Contest.
Orland Junior won 1st place April 10th at the SWIC Declamation contest at Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School.
1st place medal Winner with a perfect score was 7th grader Nicole Nelligan with her Humorous Interpretation, "Charge up Yard Sale Hill."
1st place medal winner 8th grader, Lucas Sawilchik, had them laughing with his funny Verse reading, "Why I was Late."
3rd place medal winner in oration was 7th grader Sara Odeh with her moving piece, Malala's Address to the United Nation.
4th place went to Marisa Pelegrino and Anais Balcazar for their Comedy Duet, "Take the Plunge."
In Dramatic interpretation 8th grader, Annie Ostrowski took 5th place with her piece, "Who am I?"
In Verse Reading 7th grader, Kourtney Lynch, took 6th place for her
beautiful reading, "The Little Match Girl".
This was the first year for all these students. Hard work and dedication paid off.
The team was coached by Orland Jr. High teacher Janine English.
