Orland Park Arts Commission Plans Third Annual Poetry Slam

Bring your best rhymes and imagery to Orland Park's third annual poetry slam, Aug. 25.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- Get out the berets and practice your finger snaps for the Village of Orland Park Arts Commission’s third annual Poetry Slam from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. The poetry slam is open to poets both young and old at the village’s Cultural Center, 14760 S. Park Lane. The cost is $5 to attend and $3 to participate or “spit.”

“The village Arts Commission has been doing a great job to sponsor different types of events for the community,” said Tr. Dan Calandriello, chair of the village’s Recreation and Parks Committee. “They held their first poetry slam two years ago, had a great response, and bring it back each year.”

All poetry content must be PG-13, and prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants. A panel of judges will determine the winners. Tickets will be available at the door. To learn more, contact Jean Petrow at (708) 364-0682 or jpetrow@orlandpark.org.
