Orland Park Business Owner Conned by ComEd Scammer
The Orland Park business owner was worried the power to his business would be turned off.

An Orland Park businessman was duped out of $1,250 by a man posing as a ComEd employee who threatened to shut off the power to his business.
The man, whose business is in the 9500 block of 147th Street, received a phone call Dec. 21 from a person warning that he was two months behind on his electric bill. The ComEd imposter told the man to go to a CVS and send a $500 Moneygram to an account on the website rushcard.com—or else the power to his business would be shut off, Daily Southtown reports.
The victim followed the instructions, but then received a followup call from the same person, who insisted there had been an error, and that the man actually owed $750. The victim sent the money before receiving a third call demanding more, and then realized it was a scam.
