Orland Park Couple Make 'Cool' Request on Wedding Day
Andrew High School teacher and her hubby wanted a small wedding—but found a n(ice) way to share the fun.
An Orland Park couple decided to keep their recent wedding small but sweet. Melissa and Tim Toronyi wed July 11 at the Wayside Chapel in Palos Park as immediate family and friends watched. But they wanted those who couldn’t be there to join the fun.
They encouraged everyone to take a selfie with their free Slurpee from 7-Eleven (the store’s way of celebrating their own special day). The pair asked that they post the images to social media using the hashtag #TimandMelSayIDo.
“Throughout the day, it was nice because we were able to check our social media and see our friends and families,” said Melissa Toronyi, formerly Wolff, a special education teacher at Andrew High School in Tinley Park.

“It was a way for our friends and family to show us they were thinking of us.”
Those who weren’t able to pull off a photo with the icy treats took their own celebratory champagne or beer selfie.

The couple’s ceremony was outdoors, and those who attended were more than happy to grab a cool drink afterword, said the Orland Park native and Carl Sandburg High School grad.
“We invaded the entire store,” she said laughing, of the location at 12803 S. Harlem Avenue. “Within 10 minutes, everyone had their Slurpees.”
