Orland Park Fire Contained To One Apartment
Resident closed bedroom door before evacuating the apartment which kept fire from spreading, Orland Fire Protection District said.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A resident’s quick thinking kept a fire from spreading in an apartment building Tuesday morning in Orland Park. No one was injured. The fire was contained to the unit’s bedroom, authorities said.
Orland Fire Protection District firefighters were called around 8:19 a.m. for a report of a fire at an apartment located in the 15700 block of 86th Avenue. When firefighters arrived, smoke was billowing out of a second story unit.
The resident in the apartment was able to safely evacuate the building, closing the door of the bedroom before escaping. The fire was quickly extinguished. A resident at the building was checked for smoke inhalation but declined a trip to the hospital. Damage was limited to the affected unit, with some smoke and water damage to the surrounding units, OFPD officials said.
