ORLAND PARK, IL — Flames ripped through an Orland Park home on Easter night, killing five pets of the family who lived there, according to a report by Suburban Chicagoland.

Three dogs and two cats died in the fire, which started around 8:30 p.m. in the 13600 block of Howe Drive, the outlet reported.

Two cats and two ferrets were rescued from the blaze that left the single-story home uninhabitable, according to Orland Park Fire Protection District officials, who said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Orland Park emergency crews were assisted by fire departments from Palos, Tinley Park, Crestwood, Home and other surrounding areas, the report states.
