Excitement and curiosity filled the Orland Park Cultural Center on Sunday, April 13, as Orland Park Girl Scouts and their families arrived to the annual art show and contest hoping to take home a winning ribbon.
Between Girl Scouts and Leaders, the art fair had 113 pieces of artwork submitted for judging by professional artists, a local art teacher and other experienced artists. The Scouts had 8 categories to choose to submit their artwork from which included; art to wear, drawing, free style, jewelry, painting, photography pottery and sculpture. Ribbons were awarded for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place and participation.
Entering artwork into the annual art show has become a sort of rite-of-passage for Orland Park Girl Scouts, from the youngest Kindergarten Daisy to the oldest High School Ambassador, every year Girl Scouts look forward to submitting their pieces. “I loved organizing the art show and giving our Girl Scouts the opportunity to show the community how creative we are,” says Cynthia Crane, Girl Scout leader. “We have so many talented artists and it is so much fun to display all of their wonderful artwork”.
