Orland Park Lighting Outlet Store To Shutter After 3 Decades, Owner Says
Hortons Home Lighting owner now shifts focus to expanding its flagship location in La Grange.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A family-owned lighting supply store in Orland Park will close its storefront there after three decades, the company announced Tuesday.
Hortons Home Lighting, 15846 Wolf Rd., will shutter its Orland Park Outlet store at the end of August, the company said, as it shifts its efforts to "expanding and elevating its flagship showroom in La Grange," according to the release.
The transition also marks the retirement of longtime Orland Park Outlet Manager John Meyer, "whose leadership, relationships, and dedication helped shape the store over the past three decades."

For owner John Rot, the decision was deeply personal.
"John Meyer is not only an incredible leader, but one of my dearest friends," said John Rot, owner of Hortons Home Lighting. "For nearly 20 years, he has poured his heart into the Orland Park store, building meaningful relationships with customers and creating a culture that reflects exactly who Hortons is as a family business. As we looked toward the future, it simply didn’t feel right to continue the location without his leadership. While this decision is bittersweet, it also gives us an opportunity to reinvent ourselves and focus on creating the Ultimate Lighting Destination in La Grange."

Company leaders said the La Grange showroom has "become a destination for homeowners, designers, builders, and contractors seeking expert guidance, curated displays, and personalized service."
Hortons plans to continue investing in the customer experience there, expanding inspiration, selection, and design expertise to better serve the Chicagoland community for generations to come.
"Our Lighting Specialists in La Grange are truly exceptional," said Rot. "The talent, passion, and care they bring to every project is something special, and we are excited for customers from Orland Park and beyond to experience everything our La Grange team has to offer."
Reflecting on his retirement and the store’s legacy, Meyer shared his gratitude for the community that supported the store throughout the years.
"I couldn’t be more proud of the relationships we’ve built over the years," said Meyer. "For 30 years, this store has been built around people — our customers, our employees, and our community.
