Orland Park Man Cited for Leaving Dog Outside Without Water or Shelter
Police said dog had been left outside in dog run for several hours without water or shelter in hot weather conditions.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- An Orland Park man's dog was left outside for several hours without food, water or shelter, reports said. Gregory Perkins, 43, was cited for animal neglect. The brown and white mix dog was found in a dog run in 86-degree temperatures.
Police went to a home in the 13700 block of Legend Trail. The officer spent an hour with the dog, filling a bowl with water from the garden house. A “nice neighbor” also brought a bowl of water for the dog. The officer said there was no food, water or shelter from the sun in the dog run. The air temperature was 86 degrees, according to the Weather Channel.
When Perkins finally arrived home, he reportedly told police that his son must have left the dog outside and forgot to put out a water bowl. The officer told Perkins that if he intends to leave the dog outside for any length of time that he needs to provide food, water and shelter. Perkins was issued a citation for care and treatments of animals. He was scheduled for a hearing at the Orland Park Civic Center.
