Bernal has an order of protection stemming from a previous conviction in Crestwood. The assistant public defender said the engaged couple live together.

Judge Felice set bail at $10,000 along with special conditions. He ordered Bernal to have no contact with his fiance, and to contact Orland Park police when he was ready to retrieve his belongings.

“If she says something of yours belongs to her, leave it,” Judge Felice said. “Go get your toothbrush, your shaving kit and clothes and get out.”
