Orland Park Theatre Holds Auditions for Children's Cinderella

Area children, ages seven to 18, are invited to audition for the Orland Park Theatre Troupe's Summer Children's Theatre Show, Cinderella.

ORLAND PARK, IL (May 21, 2019) – The Village of Orland Park Theatre Troupe is holding auditions for its Summer Children’s Theatre production of “Cinderella,” directed by Dee Hamilton.

“Getting involved in theater is a great way for kids to develop self-confidence, hone public speaking skills and learn more about the arts,” said Trustee Jim Dodge, chair of the village’s Recreation and Parks Committee.

Open auditions for those ages seven to 18 will be held Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Invitation only call backs will be held on Wednesday, June 19.

“This is a first for the Orland Park Theatre Troupe,” said Jean Petrow, the village’s program supervisor who is the show’s executive producer. “We’re very excited to produce a show with a cast comprised entirely of children.”

Those auditioning should be prepared to sing a song acapella and read from the script.

Once cast, members must pay the $40 registration fee.

Rehearsals and performances will be at the village’s Cultural Center, 14760 Park Lane. Rehearsals will be Mondays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Not all characters are required at all rehearsals. Conflicts should be shared at the auditions.

“Orland Park’s children’s theatre production is a wonderful way for kids to give theater a try or come see a show full of amazingly talented kids,” Petrow added. “We welcome everyone to try out – community theater is a great way to get started!”

Performances are Friday, August 9 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, August 10 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, August 11 at 2 p.m.
