A trophy presentation will take place Wednesday at 8 a.m.
Congrats, Orland Park! The village won Eric & Kathy’s 2015 Suburban Madness: Battle of the Burbs, beating out neighboring Oak Forest for the championship Monday. A trophy will be presented Wednesday morning to the mayor.
The contest pitted 16 suburbs against each other and invited listeners to text or vote online for their favorite towns.
On its way to the first-place finish, Orland Park defeated Winfield, Crown Point and Brookfield before meeting Oak Forest in the final round. Between April 3 and April 6, 141,297 votes were cast, and Orland Park finished with 53 percent of the vote.

“Orland Park came together for this fun opportunity to rally behind their hometown,” Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin said in a statement. “We had individuals, families, businesses and civic groups campaigning for Orland Park all over social media throughout the competition.”
The mayor spoke with the radio hosts on the air Monday morning soon after Orland Park was named champion. Hosts Eric Ferguson and Kathy Hart dubbed the final round “The Battle of the Big Os” because of the two suburbs in the championship — Orland Park and Oak Forest.
