Orland Park Woman Accused of Bouncing Checks
Prosecutor said checks were written to woman's landlord and a boutique on a non-existent account.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- An Orland Park woman is accused of passing bad checks around town. Karen Ross, 42, appeared before Cook County Judge Terry Gallagher on a felony charges of deceptive practice. She is alleged to have written checks on a non-existent bank account.
According to the charges, Ross wrote her landlord a check for the rent on May 1, 2017. The building owner learned the check was no good when informed by the bank that the account did not exist.
On Aug. 16, 2017, the prosecutor said Ross wrote two more checks on a non-existent account at Kimberly Bond Boutique in Orland Park. Ross allegedly tendered two checks and left with merchandise. The checks were returned a few days later to the boutique. Ross was identified from a photo array by both parties.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Ross still lives at the same address where she is accused of tendered a bad check to the building owner. Ross was released on a $10,000 I-bond for each charge. She’s due back in court Jan. 22 in Bridgeivew.
