Orland School District 135 hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday at Prairie School to kick off the construction projects happening across the District this year. With hard hats on and shovels in hand, District Board members and Administration smiled in front of what will become a new wing of Prairie School.

Prairie is the first site to begin construction, with equipment and fencing already in place. Prairie's addition will be 7,500 square feet and will include 5 new classrooms, 3 offices, 1 conference room and bathrooms. Centennial, High Point, Liberty and Orland Jr High are also all slated to receive additions to their buildings that include classrooms, gyms, offices and a fitness center. More information on each building's construction can be found on the District website. Display boards with construction details can also be seen in person at Board meetings throughout the summer.

The projects are estimated to be complete in the Fall of 2024 and construction will not affect the learning environment during the upcoming school year.
