Orland Square To Get New AMC Movie Theatre

State-of-the-art, 10-screen movie theater will feature 1,000 plush, power recliners and the latest in sight and sound technology.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- Movie lovers may have another theater to go to the show in Orland Park. A proposal is on the table to open a new movie theater in Orland Square. Seritage Growth Properties, which owns the Sears store that is attached to Orland Square Mall, has entered a lease agreement with AMC Theatres to turn the upper level to accommodate the new AMC Theatre.

Plans are to fully renovate the Sears’ upper level into a state-of-the-art, 10-screen theater. The entrance to AMC Orland Square will face retailers and restaurants in the mall. The lower level will feature a consolidated and renovated Sears store, according to a news release. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2018. Orland Square is owned and operated by Simon Property Group.

The 45,000-square-foot AMC theatre will feature more than 1,000 plush, power recliners and expanded food and beverage offerings. The theater is expected to incorporate the latest in sight and sound technology. A MacGuffins Bar and Lounge is also a possibility.
