Orland Township Distributes Masks to First Responders

Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady recently distributed face masks, hand sewn by Township seniors, to officials from the Orland Park, Orland Hills and Tinley Park police and fire departments.

The masks were the result of the Township’s Operation P.P.E.P (Personal Protection for Essential Personnel) where the Orland Township provided materials to seniors who wanted to create masks for front line workers during the pandemic. Over the course of approximately two months, ten Township seniors created more than 300 masks that were distributed to the local fire and police departments.

“At the onset of the stay at home order, many of our Township seniors expressed that they wanted to do something to help and give back to those working the front lines during these trying times,” said Supervisor O’Grady. “We started Operation P.P.E.P. and our wonderful seniors got to work sewing masks for first responders and other frontline workers. I am proud to distribute these masks to the police and fire departments within the Township and thank our seniors for all the hard work they put into this project.”
