Orland Township’s Pet-Palooza had something for everyone

Family friendly event has variety of vendors, activities

While Orland Township’s 8th Annual Pet-Palooza was a festival for and about pets, there were also plenty of vendors and activities for those without pets.

Of course, the bulk of the vendors were pet related, with many having been a part of past Pet-Paloozas, such as Twin Tails Market & Barkery, a natural pet supply store that focuses on high-quality, limited ingredient foods for cats and dogs and located in Palos Park.

“Pet-Palooza was again a paw-fect event,” said Brian Casiello, who owns Twin Tails with his wife Heather. “Beautiful weather, amazing people and lots of fun had by all. We look forward to coming back again in 2020 with even more fun items for everyone!”

Other vendors may not have seemed pet related, but had something to offer for pet owners, such as Floor Coverings International in Orland Park.

“This year’s Pet-Palooza was a fantastic event,” said Rob O’Connor, owner of Floor Coverings International. “This was our second year participating and the turnout of people and pets was tremendous.”

“Since we are business owners that live and work in Orland Park, it is important for us to participate in events like this so we can meet local homeowners and help them with their flooring needs,” O’Connor added. “Pet-Palooza was an ideal event that allows us to demonstrate how our “pet-friendly” flooring products can save homeowners from headaches created by their furry four-legged family members.”

There was also a Kids’ Zone, that included several inflatable bounces houses, train rides, games, prizes, face painting and appearances by several princesses, a superhero and other favorite cartoon characters.

And while many vendors gave out free samples of food and treats for dogs and cats, there were also free samples from many local restaurants for the humans as well. And while residents dined, they were able to listen to local singer Erik Donner.

“Even though the focus of Pet-Palooza is obviously pets and raising awareness about our Pet Pantry, the goal is to have an inclusive, family festival,” said Supervisor O’Grady. “We do our best to have a large variety of vendors, activities and entertainment so that everyone can find something that interests them.”

Orland Township’s Pet-Palooza was held on Saturday, Sept. 14 on the Township grounds, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave.
