Orland Township Scholarship Foundation Awards Local Students

The Orland Township Scholarship Foundation awarded 16 area students scholarships recognizing their achievements.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Township recently hosted a scholarship awards dinner at Buca di Beppo, located at 15350 S 94th Ave, Orland Park on Thursday, May 9th. The Orland Township Scholarship Foundation awarded a total of $17,000 to students who live in the township.

Over the past few years, Supervisor Paul O’Grady (who also serves as the President of the Foundation) and the Board of Directors have given out more than $235,000 in scholarships to over 300 students, helping them receive financial aid for their college education.

The students and their families were invited to the dinner, where Supervisor Paul O’Grady presented the awards to the students after dinner was served. During the event, he discussed the successful fundraising events that helped maintain the Orland Township Scholarship Foundation tradition.

O’Grady stated, "The generosity of donors in assisting these students with their financial burden is an excellent investment for the community and future generations. By prioritizing the future of our young people, we can strengthen their feelings of hope and possibility. We are grateful to have the opportunity to contribute to the next chapter in their academic careers.”

Of the 16 award recipients, seven were students from Carl Sandburg High School (Jack Anthony Farrell, Keira Fitzgerald, Nadia Ghouleh, Christine Jaeger, Gregory Kotsiviras, Maya Rihani, and Addison Torgerson), six students from Victor J. Andrew High School (Brenden Zielinski, Rex Staudacher, Liljana Mihalovich, Alexis Fornero, Jacqueline Duran, and Michelle Cordova), one from Benet Academy (Joshua Montalvo), one from St. Rita High School (Joseph Armbruster), and one from Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School (Isabella Judeh).

The selected students have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their schools, communities, and extracurricular activities, proving their abilities go beyond academic excellence.
