Peoria Man Arrested After Robbery Outside Mall, Multi-Town Chase: Orland PD
The man, 25, fled the scene after stealing a woman's purse, with police from Orland, Midlothian and Chicago tagging in on the chase.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A Peoria man was arrested Thursday after allegedly stealing a woman's purse and leading police on a multi-jurisdictional chase, Orland Park police said Friday.
On March 12, Orland Park police were called to the parking lot of 288 Orland Square Drive after a woman reported that her purse had been forcibly taken from her.
The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. A description of the offender and the suspect vehicle was immediately relayed to neighboring law enforcement agencies.

Shortly after the information was broadcast, the Midlothian Police Department located the suspect vehicle near 159th Street and Laramie Road. Midlothian Police followed the vehicle to the area of 111th Street and Interstate 57, where the Chicago Police Department was waiting to assist. The suspect vehicle then fled, and Chicago Police initiated a pursuit.
The pursuit ended in the 3300 block of South Wood Street in Chicago, where the suspect vehicle crashed and the suspect fled on foot.

The suspect—identified as Malik Campbell, 25, of Peoria—was taken into custody by the Chicago Police Department and positively identified by the victim whose purse was stolen.
Orland Park detectives worked in coordination with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, and Campbell was charged with robbery, a class 2 felony.
"The Orland Park Police Department would like to thank our regional law enforcement partners for their assistance in safely bringing this incident to a resolution," police said in a release.
