PHOTOS: Massive Lines Form During Borders Liquidation Sale

Large crowds packed the store throughout the weekend.

Check out lines at the Orland Park Borders stretched all the way to the store’s rear, as droves of shoppers tried to cash in on a liquidation sale.

Similar lines formed at the 399 remaining Borders Books and Music stores across the country, after the mega-bookstore chain announced it would be . A judge gave the go-ahead on Thursday to the company to end their operations after 40 years in business.

The Orland Park store was offering at least 10 percent off of items.

Most of the 11,000 employees will need to seek other work when stores finally close, but about 10 percent may be able to continue on. Books-A-Million is in talks to take over 35 Borders stores, keeping about 1,500 people employed, according to Reuters.
