Pot Citation Issued 2 Weeks After Legalization: Orland Park Cops

POSSESSION OF CANNABIS

A 30-year-old Oak Lawn man is the first to pick up a cannabis-related citation after the plant became legal in Illinois at the first of the year. The man was issued a citation for unlawful possession of cannabis after police said an open bag of cannabis was found in the backseat of a car stopped in the 15100 block of Orlan Brook Drive at 3:56 p.m. on Jan. 16.

Police said three people were in the car that was pulled over due to the driver using a cell phone and that the officer smelled burnt cannabis during the traffic stop. The passenger who was cited admitted the cannabis - which was later weighed in at 2.3 grams - belonged to him, police said.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Jacek Pelc, 46, of the 9400 block of West 140th St., was charged with disorderly conduct at 12:38 a.m. on Jan 12 after police responded to the Tradycja Polish Fusion Cuisine restaurant at 14478 S. La Grange Road to a call of a fight involving 35 people.

Police said the restaurant owner told them he was bartending for a private party and was speaking with all the guests when Jacek became upset that he was speaking with his girlfriend. Several people had to step in to stop Jacek from head butting the owner, police said.

BATTERY

Brenna C. Bauer, 20, of Chicago was charged with battery at 8:53 a.m. on Jan. 11 in the Lakeview Plaza parking lot.

Police said an altercation between two cars both headed westbound on 151st Street got to the point in which one woman, identified by police as Bauer, got out of the car she was in and reached in the open side window of the other car and struck the driver in the face with a closed fist while both cars were stopped at a red light at 94th Avenue.
