Psychedelic Drug Lab Found In Man's Bedroom: Cops
Orland Park cops find ecstasy, cannabis, cash, scales and DMT drug lab during warrant search of Midlothian man's house, prosecutors said.

ORAND PARK, IL -- Orland Park police found a clandestine psychedelic drug lab along with MDMA, and a large quantity of cannabis exceeding the felony threshold while executing a warrant in a Midlothian apartment complex, prosecutors said. Jacob Nelson, 26, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance-MDMA, unlawful manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance-DMT, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, and permitting the unlawful use of a building.
According to an Orland Park police news release, detectives started an investigation of possible unlawful drug sales coming from an apartment located in the 14600 block of Knox Ave., Midlothian. On Wednesday, police executed a search warrant at the Midlothian home. The target of the search warrant, later identified as Nelson, was at home when police arrived. Police found nearly a pound of cannabis and a small quantity of MDMA, also known as ecstasy. Scales and plastic bags purportedly for packaging cannabis were also found, along with $5,986 in cash.
The prosecutor said that officers also discovered clandestine lab in the Nelson's bedroom, where suspected DMT (N,N-Dimethyltryptamine) was found in various manufacturing stages. Police carted out 22 glass jars of the product from the apartment, as well as the ingredients acetone and ayahuasca tree bark, which are used to brew DMT, the prosecutor said. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, DMT is a hallucinogenic drug similar to LSD. It is best known for producing brief and intense psychedelic effects when ingested.
