S and J Door in Frankfort Opens the Door to Smiles for Children Fighting Cancer
S and J Door employees and their families display some of the Easter baskets at S & J Door in Frankfort for children with cancer.
The employees at S & J Door, Inc. are giving to children fighting cancer. Employees recently donated 50 handcrafted Easter baskets full of toys, books and gift cards to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation (POTCF) for children undergoing treatment for cancer at Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital.
S & J Door, Inc. is a local, family owned company in Frankfort specializing in sales, service, installation, maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial storefronts, doors, glass and overheads.
S & J Door Office Manager Melissa Hunter said, “My husband Bob Hunter (proprietor of S & J Door in Frankfort) initially heard of the Treasure Chest Foundation after attending the Mokena Chamber Golf Outing in 2014. He was very moved by the presentation and slide show. He knew at that moment, he wanted to become a part of the Treasure Chest Foundation.”

Treasure Chest Foundation CEO and Founder Colleen Kisel said, “We feel so blessed and honored to have the support of the S & J Door Company. Their donation will help support 50 children who endure years and years of unending cancer treatments by rewarding the little ones with a beautiful Easter basket full of toys and gift cards.”
The not-for-profit Treasure Chest Foundation now supports more than 9,300 children and teens each month who are diagnosed with cancer by providing a toy or gift card in 49 hospitals nationwide. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. CEO Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Colleen discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain. Martin celebrated his 23rd anniversary of remission from the disease earlier this year.
