Nature lovers of all ages are invited to get fit and have fun May 20 in the Lake Katherine 5K trail race.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL -- Nature lovers can get fit the fun way by signing up for a scenic 5K trail race around the Lake Katherine Nature Center in Palos Hills. The sixth annual Break for the Lake 5K race kicks off off at 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 20. Everyone from children to adults of any age are invited to run or walk depending on their fitness level.

“It’s been a long winter but Spring is finally in the air,” said operations manager Gareth Blakesley. “When it comes to fitness in the area few places are as scenic for burning off the calories as a run around Lake Katherine. Our trail race features prairie, woody ridges, asphalt, single track, woodchip, and grass as runners take in the beauty of the wildlife and lake.”

The race entrance fee prior to the day is $25 for adults (15 years and older) and $15 for children under 14. Participants can find the details on the Lake Katherine Nature Center website.
