Route 83 Closed for Southwest Half Marathon, This Sunday

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL -- Police have announced road closures for the Southwest Half Marathon this Sunday, May 6. Route 83 will be closed to all traffic between Harlem Avenue and Archer Avenue from 5 a.m. and noon. Motorists are urged to avoid the area on Sunday and travel on alternate routes.

"We will be happy to assist you in working out any alternative routes and various options you may want to consider for traversing the area," Palos Park Police Chief Joe Miller said.

For those who wish to watch the runners, the course begins and ends at Palos Heights City Hall, Route 83 and 76th Avenue. The course winds through gorgeous forest preserves and the newly repaved Route 83 in Palos Hills, Palos Heights and Palos Park. There will be no race day registrations.
