Funeral Service Set For William 'Wild Bill' Sowa, 75

HOMER GLEN, IL -- William “Wild Bill” Sowa (Gorney) aged 75, passed away peacefully on Monday July 30, 2018, at his log cabin home surrounded by his family and his dogs. William leaves behind his wife, daughter, and a 4-car, 2-story garage full of junk that his wife and daughter do not know what to do with. If you are looking for 37 gas cans, an assortment of welding supplies, and a few unknown items of heavy machinery please wait an appropriate length of time and then come haul them off. This is not an ad for a garage sale, this is an obituary for a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.

Bill loved football, and was a talented player, it seems the older he got, the better he was. He was also quick to tell anyone who would listen that he got “better looking every single day." Unfortunately, his contempt for the politically correct 21st century drove him to an early grave. While Bill will miss most his scratchy political talk radio shows, his family looks forward to living a Rush Limbaugh-free life.

But in all seriousness, Bill was a large man, with an even larger heart. Born August 23, 1942, originally from Orland Park and of Homer Glen since 1979, he leaves behind his charming wife of 47 years, Judy (Woods) Sowa and perfect daughter, Linsey Sowa. Brother of Len (Marilyn) Gorney and Jim (Debbie) Gorney. Fond Uncle of many nieces and nephews, and a loving relative and friend to more people than can possibly be listed here.

Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C., 108 E. Illinois Street, Lemont. Celebration of life to follow at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5788, 1026 E. 9th Street, Lockport. Donations in Bill's Memory will be made to the National Psoriasis Foundation.
