Saint Michael's Boys Basketball Teams Have Slam Dunk Season
SMS boys basketball 2015 season wrap up
Saint Michael’s Basketball season came to a close with the school winning four first place titles and several top placements.
Some 106 boys grades 4th through 8thgrade, 12 teams overall, competed in the South Side Conference (SSC), South Suburban Basketball League (SSBL), Mount Greenwood League and a number of school tournaments.
Saint Mike’s performed well in the SSC and SSBL leagues and playoffs. The fourth grade silver team came out on top with first as the SSLB champions. The eighth grade A team placed second in both SSC and SSBL leagues. The sixth grade A team placed second in SSC league, as did the fifth grade team in the SSBL tournament. The 7th Grade A team also made it into the semi-finals in the SSBL playoffs.

“The SSC and SSBL are tough leagues to compete in” says Kevin Donegan, basketball coordinator at Saint’ Mike’s. “All our teams put in 100 percent. We could not be more proud.”

The fifth grade and seventh grade teams both placed first on the Saint Mary’s Titon tournament. The combined fifth grade team came in first place at the Incarnation tournament, while the school’s fourth grade blue team came in second. The eighth grade team also placed third in the Saint Cyril tournament.
“We are so impressed with of all these boys and what they bring each season,” says Donegan. “Whether they win or lose, they show exceptional sportsmanship and a willingness to succeed both on and off the court.”
