Sandburg Chess Team Takes Tourney, Ranked Second in Conference
The team topped four teams in the SWSC tournament last weekend.
The Sandburg High School Chess team accomplished “the incredible and impossible” in the SWSC Conference Tournament, said Coach Patrick Latortue.
Ranked fourth in the Blue Division and ninth in the SWSC Conference for this year, the Sandburg chess team beat four teams in the SWSC tournament Saturday, Jan. 24, leading them to win the tournament title, take the Blue Division title and become ranked second in the Conference.
Joshua Kolodziejczyk ranked second in the Blue Division and second in Conference. John Krauntzos placed fifth in the Blue Division and Jacob Colby ranked tenth in the Blue Division.
