Congrats to the Sandburg High Boys Cross Country Team, taking first place Saturday at the Marist Sectional, arguably the toughest sectional in the state. Sandburg dominated with our 5th runner beating Hinsdale Central’s No. 2 runner. Hinsdale was ranked No. 1 in the state going into this meet, and Sandburg was ranked No. 2.

It is on to the State Championship next weekend in Peoria. Go Eagles!

To Coach John O’Malley and your staff - This is why Sandburg is such great running program. You take individuals and make a team out of them.

This picture (of the boys running) shows Sandburg as 6 of the top 10 runners at the 1 3/4 mile mark of Saturday’s Sectional meet (6th runner is hidden behind our 5th runner). They run as a TEAM, not as INDIVIDUALS. While the boys are talented, no question about that, we wouldn’t be where we are without the great coaching, senior leadership and devoted alumni/fans.

In Cross Country, it takes a TEAM to win a championship. You are only as good as your last runner. Let show that what Sandburg has next week on the big stage in Peoria!
