Sandburg graduate, author and illustrator returns
Ashley Pickens tells students about publishing process
Sandburg High School graduate Ashley Pickens, author and illustrator of a new children’s book, Waddle with Scuttle or Swim with Kim, returned to campus to meet with students in the Literacy Lab.
Pickens, a 2012 graduate, read her book and answered questions about the writing, illustrating and publishing process. She shared that a class assignment while at Sandburg was the inspiration for what eventually became her book.
