This past Saturday the Sandburg High School Speech team competed at the 2nd annual Richards "Saturday Morning Smackdown" in Oak Lawn. In a field of 20 teams - many of which will be regional opponents in a few weeks - the Speakin' Eagles did well. The team had eight students break into finals and the team scored enough points in the preliminary rounds to earn third place overall.

Aristotle Vainikos - Finalist - Impromptu Speaking
Julia Canelis and Abby Hooks - Finalists - Dramatic Duet Acting
Camille Jones - 5th Place - Humorous Interpretation
Matthew Rohan - 3rd Place - Extemporaneous Speaking
Myka Padilla - 3rd Place - Radio Speaking
Ray Curtin - 2nd Place - Original Comedy
Hunter Morris - Tournament Champion - Original Comedy
David Oliver - Tournament Champion - Informative Speaking
The team is coached by Geoff Epperson and Assistant Coaches Chrissi Petropulos, Kathryn Guelcher, Amy Vogelsang, Jeny Mills and Daine Sintich.
