Sandburg Model UN breaks school records

Eagles bring home 22 awards and 8 gavels

The Carl Sandburg Model United Nations Club (CSMUN) broke multiple school records at the recent University of Michigan, Ann-Arbor MUNUM XXXVII Conference. For the first time in club history, CSMUN was awarded Best Large Delegation at the closing ceremony of MUNUM XXXVII. CSMUN also won a record number of awards, taking home 22 awards, beating the past record of 16 awards. Finally, a record number of gavels, which are awarded to the Best Delegate, were also won. With five gavels being the previous record, CSMUN took home eight gavels.

Club sponsor Adam Osmanski said, “We could not be more proud of the Carl Sandburg MUN team and all of the hard work that was put into this victory.”

A total of 48 CSMUN delegates attended the conference to debate, write about, and resolve a range of global issues with delegates from all over the Midwest. With 16 committees, Sandburg delegates were able to compete alongside one another, allowing executive members to mentor club members through the multi-day conference experience. MUNUM offered a variety of committees for our CSMUN delegates to participate in, including UN Women, the International Press Corps, and Dodge City.
