Sandburg student-run coffee house features student artwork

Featured artist has passion for making pottery

Sandburg’s student run Coffee House has started featuring the work of the Art Department’s Student of the Month. In November, for example, junior Evan Flaherty enjoyed the unique experience of not only showing his pottery work, but also selling it.

Ceramics teacher, Daniel McCabe, commented that “Evan has developed a great passion for working with clay. He is making tons of pots, coming in every free chance he gets, trying to master the potter’s wheel. Evan is setting the bar for his classmates!”

Evan sold several coffee mugs, a bowl, and a vase during Coffee House hours. Some of the proceeds from the sale will be used for Artober events and other activities that promote the work of art students.
