ORLAND PARK, IL — Smith Crossing in Orland Park has received a top ranking from U.S. News & World Report. The life plan community at 10501 Emile Lane is one of 124 skilled nursing care providers out of 727 eligible statewide to receive the top-performance ranking, according to a news release.

“We are proud, knowing Smith Crossing was recognized as among the nation’s and state’s very best for short-term stay rehabilitation and skilled nursing care,” Amanda Mauceri, executive director of Smith Crossing, said.

The data used to evaluate these facilities come from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services and include metrics of nurse staffing, patient outcomes, facility complaints and rehabilitation therapy, according to the release.

The Orland Park facility will soon expand as construction will begin next year on a $24 million project for a short-term rehab wing that will add 46 private suites and several common areas to 16 existing private suites dedicated to short-term rehab and 30 existing private suites used for skilled nursing care.

Mauceri attributes the overall success of Smith Crossing to its long-standing commitment to serving older adults providing spacious independent living residences and apartments for assisted living, as well as memory support, rehab and skilled nursing care.
