Square Celt Ale House and Grill to Open Monday in Orland Park

The ale house moves into the spot once known as Sam Maguire's.

The beer will flow once again in a long-vacant spot near Orland Square Mall.

Square Celt Ale House will open to eager patrons Monday, Oct. 20, at 39 Orland Square Dr. in the space previously occupied by Sam Maguire’s.

“Orland Park is a great community and we are excited to be able to bring our concept and Irish hospitality to the village—our first location outside the city of Chicago” said Eamonn Vaughan, co-owner.

Square Celt is a 350-seat restaurant with a 350-seat beer garden. The space has undergone extensive remodeling and some of the features include 3 rooms: a grill room, bar room and a private party room. Square Celt has 2 large copper bars, a fireplace, 40 TV’s including 2 video wall TV’s, a 1000-square-foot retractable outdoor pergola, outdoor TV’s and fire tables.

Chef Anthony Di Fabio has been recruited to lead the kitchen. Entrees will include 4 Irish specialties - Shepherd’s Pie, Fish and Chips, Bangers & Mash and Irish Style Chicken Curry. Square Celt also smokes its own meat and we will feature smoked brisket, smoked half chickens and smoked pork chops. It will also feature Baked Mac & Cheese dishes, large selection of appetizers, smoked brisket chili, a signature corned beef sandwich and awesome burgers. The bar will offer a Sunday Brunch Buffet that will feature build your own omelets, made to order waffles, a fruit bar and hand carved meats all for only $12.95.

The drinks menu includes 30 beers on tap that will change seasonally. There are also 4 wines on tap, 10 other wines and a signature cocktail list.

Square Celt will offer daily deals such as ½ price appetizers on Mondays, $7 burgers and any side on Tuesday. Live DJ’s will spin on the weekends and special events throughout the week including beer dinners, trivia and bags tournaments in the summer. “We are fully committed to providing high quality food, service and a fun environment” said Justin Witalka, General Manager of Square Celt.

Vaughan Hospitality Group (vaughanhospitality.com ) which is owned and operated by the Vaughan Family (originally from County Cork, Ireland) has 6 other locations in the city of Chicago: Vaughan’s Pub Northwest Side, Vaughan’s Pub Lakeview, Corcoran’s Grill & Pub, Mystic Celt Bar & Grill, Emerald Loop Bar & Grill and Monty Gaels Tavern & Grill.

Doors will open Monday at 11 a.m. Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
