Stec named as Stagg’s new School Resource Office

New SRO looking forward to working with Stagg students, staff

Detective Ryan Stec of the Palos Hills Police Department was recently named the new School Resource Office at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School. He began at the Palos Hills Police Department in October of 2021. During his time, he worked patrol and was recently named detective.

Previously, he served seven years with the Chicago Police Department in the Bureau of Patrol on the city's westside. He also served in the Bureau of Gang Enforcement and Bureau of Organized Crime-Narcotics Division. In addition, he worked part-time at Immaculate Conception St. Joseph grade school, located in the city's Gold Coast neighborhood.

Stec said, “I am very grateful for this new opportunity to be a member of the Stagg Community. I look forward to working with the students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration which comprises District 230. I have had many roles over the course of my Law Enforcement career and I am eager to share my knowledge, as well as learning from others, during my time here at Stagg High School.”

Born and raised on the southwest side of Chicago in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood, He played college football at Dickinson College and then Benedictine University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. A U16 boys hockey coach for the "Jets," he has been involved in some capacity of youth, high school, or college athletics for more than 10 years.
