Stolen Truck Found Torched on SXU's Orland Park Campus

Officials on scene say maintenance truck was abandoned and set on fire in Saint Xavier University's parking lot.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- Firefighters doused a burning maintenance truck that had been abandoned in the parking lot Saint Xavier University’s Orland Park campus late Wednesday.

Orland Park firefighters responded to a call of a vehicle on fire in the SXU parking lot at 18230 Orland Parkway around around 10:20 p.m.

According to officials on the scene, the maintenance truck had been reported stolen. The vehicle, minus a snow plow apparatus, had been abandoned and set on fire.

A university security officer from SXU’s Chicago campus and police officers were examining surveillance video.

The truck was located toward the rear of the campus parking lot and was deemed a total loss. Fire officials said the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

There was no visible damage to university buildings.
