'Suspicious Person' Turned Out to Be Uber Driver Looking for Fare

"No criminal intent" confirmed by Orland Park police in incident reported at 154th and Park Station on Tuesday.

ORLAND PARK, IL - The attempted child luring incident reported Tuesday near 154th Street and Park Station Boulevard in Orland Park turned out to be an Uber driver who mistook a female student in the area for his fare.

Just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, the student told a parent she was getting off the bus at 154th and Park Station when she was asked by a man driving a black Infiniti QX60 SUV if she needed a ride home.

Orland Park police found and questioned the driver, who told them he did ask the girl if she needed a ride. When she replied no, the driver contacted the actual fare who was several houses away.

“No criminal intent was confirmed,” police said in a news release on Wednesday.
