Tens of Thousands of Paczki Ready at Orland Park Bakery
The fryers have been hard at work assembling the pillowy pouches of indulgence for Fat Tuesday. We'll be out there later today to see the droves lining up outside Orland Park Bakery's new home.
By the end of business hours on Wednesday, the Orland Park Bakery expects to have sold 36,000 paczki.
Crews have been working since Sunday night around the clock to make the specialty doughnuts, said bakery manager Dan Major.
“If we have to make more, we’ll make more,” Major said Monday evening.

Last year, the bakery sold about 28,000 of the timely pastries. Eager fans waited in hour-long lines for their orders.
Even though the bakery’s former Orland Plaza home used five registers on Paczki Day, Major said the hope is the new location’s more open layout will make the paczki flow smoother.

A separate line will be available for the pre-orders, Major said.
