This Weekend: Fall Festivals, Jazz and Zumba

Festivals, recreational and performing arts events happening this weekend, Sept. 22 - 25, in the Orland, Palos, Tinley and Oak Forest area.

Does your social life see as much action as that sweater in the storage bin under your bed? Lucky for you, it's fall, and Patch is here! So put on that sweater, grab some hot apple cider and get ready to walk in some crunchy leaves on your way to Patch's best bets for the weekend.

Festivals


September 22 - 25|
Opening night of the Fall Fest (September 22) is Polish night, including polka music and traditional Polish food such as dumplings, pierogis and sausages. Each day offers different themes and events. Check out the schedule for details.


September 24, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. |
Celebrate fall at the Center. Visit the farmer's market featuring pumpkins. Ride a horse or take a hayride. Let the kids play games, tour the barns, paint a pumpkin and more.

September 25, 1 p.m.–3 p.m. |
Party on the west lawn of the Tinley Park Public Library. Listen to Cajun and Zydeco music played by the Midway Ramblers. Enjoy food and fun for the whole family.

Sports & Recreation


September 24, 1:30 p.m.–3 p.m. |
Zumba to support Horizon Hospice. The event will be hosted by WGN's Mark Suppelsa with music will be supplied by Official DJ's of Chicago International Salsa Congress. Admission is $15.

September 24 - 25, 10 a.m. |
See demonstrations of firefighting, watch a fitness competition, listen to music and more. Children can enter their own challenge and learn what it is like to be a firefighter.

Performing Arts


September 23 - 24, 7:30 p.m. | See Ken Ludwig’s classic Broadway comedy brought to the stage in Orland Park. Tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for seniors and students and $9 for children.


September 24, 8 p.m. |
Help Southwest Symphony Orchestra kick off its fall season with Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, Strauss' Tales from the Vienna Woods, Borodin’s In the Steppes of Central Asia and Respighi’s Pines of Rome.


September 23, 7:30 p.m.–9 p.m. |
Don your snazziest black and white attire, and get ready for an evening of jazz. Listen to Dee Alexander and the Trinity Jazz Band in this free event.
