Tornado Touched Down In Orland Park: National Weather Service

ORLAND PARK, IL — A tornado touched down in Orland Park Monday, the National Weather Service said late Tuesday.

An EF-0 tornado was confirmed to have impacted western and northwestern Orland Park, the NWS said.

NWS also reported that a tornado impacted Country Club Hills, Hazel Crest, Harvey, and Homewood. Damage reflecting an EF-1 tornado was found in Hazel Crest, NWS said, and given the complexity of its track, they are still finalizing details.

The agency also confirmed an EF-1 tornado in Lansing.

According to NWS, powerful straight-line winds were confirmed in Downers Grove and Carol Stream.

Thousands were without power in Orland Park and other areas, at one point totaling 9,000 customers impacted. Crews worked to restore power and as of Tuesday morning, that number was reduced to 2,300, Mayor Jim Dodge updated the town.

"Yesterday’s severe weather caused widespread damage and power disruptions across Orland Park," the Village said in a release Tuesday. "Village crews and public safety personnel are actively working with our utility partners to clear debris, restore services, and assess impacts...."
